Golden rule of ethics cannot be applied to communication. There is no sense in telling other what I want other to tell me. The only exception is a greeting, and this means that greetings are not communication. Communication must contain something new, unexpected or at least something that is not guaranteed. Greetings become communication when one of two replicas is non-trivial.
Communication may be symmetrical sometimes. One’s own replicas can be echoed, mirrored. This way of communication can be used for a very different, even opposite goals, sometime it promotes empathy and sometimes it is expression of hate and/or sarcasm.
This is only a technical symmetry, and even in such dialogue communication remains asymmetrical in its essence. Ethics concerns all things temporal, it helps as regain our humanity in the counter-human space where death is the horizon. Our deeds and relations are all aimed at keeping balance, tranquility, understanding.
Communication is obviously part of our final existence, but there is in communication a small percent of unpredictablity, of violating laws of nature and humankind, of distorting balance, knowing down stability. Communication at its best is misbalance, it is opposed to ethics as quantum physics is opposed to the Newtonian one. Deep dialogue leads to the growth of uncertainty in human life and through this make this life more alive.
Ethics deals with with repetitive events, communication at it high creates something unique. This gives to the communication a taste of eternity. Eternity is incompatible with repetitions, eternal repetition would be a pseudo-eternity, a sort of hell, death without disappearance. There is a lot of technical repetitions in any communication, which constitute its base, «plankton» of communication and make it possible, and there are repetitions killing communication.
