YAKOV KROTOV
Victor Mamontov

Not all good people are dead or emigrated to the brave New World.
I am glad to introduce Fr, Victor Mamontov, a monk with the title
of "archimandrit" (abbot), from 1982 the dean of the church
of St. Euphrosine of Polotsk (this saint princess lived in 11 c.)
in Karsava, Latvia. He is very "Eastern" in his outlook:
long white beard, kind look. Fr. Victor is a friend of Fr. George
Kochetkov, I've seen him in Moscow
on one of the conferences which Kochetkovians held regularly.
On my site there is (in
Russian) an article of Fr. Victor about "community revival" in
Latvia. This phenomena is the closest one to the "religious revival"
in its Western meaning: in the midst of usual parish spring up a sort of brotherhood
or community whose members are closely acquainted with each other, help each
other and sometimes have a sort of collective self-discipline. Certainly, there
is always a risk of becoming a bit sectarian inside the Church, but only those
who risk are alive, aren't we?
I don't know the address of Fr. Victor nut I guess it is easy to
get it from Fr. Kochetkov.
