Nezavisimaya Gazeta -- "The Independent Gazette". Editor-in-chief Vladimir Tretyakov. In 1990-1191 one of the fer pro-democratic newspapers, now pro-governmental. Its site in Russian: www.ng.ru.

In June 2001 the owner of NG Boris Berezovsky fired out Tretyakov and made Tatyana Kashkareva the editor-in-chief. Still, the tone of the newspaper remained mostly the same, especially in religious questions, due to the same editor Maxin Schevchenko, very anti-Semitic, anti-Catholic, anti-religious-freedom etc.
