What seems to me of more interest is the Russian Orthodox histeria around globalization (there is a vast dossier in Russian here.) The usual Third World talk about new stage of American imperialism and colonialism etc. Yankee want to destroy Russian culture. Official commission of the Moscow Patriarchate recently stated that globalization can be very dangerous.

I think such "globophobia" is the result of the clash between traditionalistic society based on collectivism in its worst (Bolshevistic) form with the realities of the new epoch, which I prefer to call Private Age - as opposed to all previous centuries of Collectivist Age. Globalization differs from colonialism just like the dancing party differs from the Communist party. It is based on the personal initiative and risk.
